Event Details
Date: Wednesday 15 July
Time: 6:00 pm – 8:30 pm
This free event aims to help people connect with nature, connect with each other, and enjoy the wellbeing benefits of spending time outdoors. Whether you're a keen photographer, a complete beginner, or simply looking for an excuse to get outside and meet new people, you'll be very welcome.
Starting at Waterperry Gardens, we'll wander beside the river through peaceful riverside and woodland habitats before following the bridleway to Waterstock Mill. Along the way, we'll take time to pause, observe and appreciate the natural world around us. Rather than focusing on photography skills or technical expertise, the emphasis is on slowing down and noticing what often goes unseen.
Through a series of simple nature-noticing activities, you'll be encouraged to look a little closer at the landscape around you and photograph whatever captures your attention. Whether it's a dramatic riverside view, sunlight reflecting on the water, a wildflower beside the path, or a tiny insect amongst the grasses, there is no right or wrong subject.
At Waterstock Mill, our hosts will share a little about the history of the mill, its connection to the River Thame and some of the wildlife that can be found in and around the river. Friendly RTCT volunteers with photography experience will also be on hand throughout the evening to offer guidance, share tips and help you get the most from your camera if you'd like.
No photography experience is required and there is no need for specialist equipment. Smartphones are absolutely welcome, although you're welcome to bring a camera if you have one.
Come along for fresh air, good conversation and an opportunity to see the River Thame from a different perspective.
